The term ceramics derives from the Greek kéramos which means "clay", we can, generally speaking, define any type of ceramic object with clay and water mixture and fired by means of fire.
The characteristics of ceramics vary first of all in relation to the origin and composition of the clay of origin. There are also differences due to the variety of processing and cooking: the more complex and refined the processing, the more the properties improve, with these also increase the cost of production and the final price of the products. There are many uses of ceramics: furnishing accessories, plates, statuettes and ornamental objects, but also tiles, sinks and furnishing accessories related to the world of kitchen and bathroom.
CERAMICS IN THE BATHROOM
The ceramic for its characteristic white color has always been used in bathroom furniture.
Its waterproof surface, easy cleaning and the famous white color have made this material the favorite for sanitary ware, coverings and bathroom accessories.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Due to its structural characteristics, ceramics are presented with the famous white color which, however, especially in the bathroom, due to the limescale of the water can become opaque and lose its natural brilliance.
When the limestone is very sedimented, the ceramic loses its shine, assuming an unsightly opaque and yellowish color. This is why it is important to know, especially in the bathroom, how to whiten it efficiently. There are different methods of cleaning, from the most natural to the most ingenious. In the few lines that follow you will have a quick manual with all solutions for cleaning bathroom ceramics.
A first method consists in using simple hot water to which to add, if the dirt is stubborn, white vinegar. To proceed to the best we suggest to wet a cloth with vinegar and pass it directly on the dirty ceramic, once the dirt has been removed, rinse everything with running water. As an alternative to vinegar, we can use simple ethyl alcohol.
If it is necessary to return the ceramic to a shining state due to a strong opacification (very encrusted limestone), you can intervene with sodium bicarbonate, excellent solution because in addition to being bleaching and detergent, bicarbonate also plays an important role antibacterial. Moreover, being granulated, bicarbonate has an abrasive action on the ceramic, capable of removing any patina of dirt, even in thickness.
The use of this product is particularly recommended if you have ceramic tiles in the bathroom, and you intend to eliminate the limestone that makes them opaque. In this case, to optimize the result, it is appropriate to add another natural and specific substance or lemon juice.
The latter in fact applied with a rag along with the bicarbonate itself and rinsed with cold water, allows to obtain the ceramic tiles perfectly bleached and especially well-hygienic.
For this reason, sodium bicarbonate with lemon is particularly recommended for cleaning accessory ceramics (soap holders, dispensers, toilet brushes, etc.) and bathroom floors and walls.
These 'natural' remedies make it possible to clean ceramic surfaces without the use of aggressive detergents that are harmful to the environment. The advice for all ceramic furnishing accessories is to keep them clean every day, avoiding those annoying incrustations. Ceramics is a material used since ancient times, for its value and its beauty, your home thanks to this material will always be beautiful and elegant. Keeping ceramic tiles and accessories in good condition will increase the value of your space both in economic terms and in terms of beauty and aesthetics.
